A level 3 Blacksmith tutorial on salvaging gear for Runes and spending them on upgrades. It pays out Runes and 75 XP.

    Salvage A Piece Of Equipment

    level 3 recommended

    Salvage any piece of gear you no longer use.

    Journal

    Craftspeople can enhance your equipment.

    The Blacksmith will upgrade most melee weapons, as well as shields, armors, and rings, in exchange for Runes. Legendary and rare weapons require Legendary Runes.

    Runes can be obtained through exploration or by salvaging equipment.

    Unlock Enhancements

    You've obtained Runes by salvaging an item.

    Talk to the Blacksmith and use the Runes to enhance your equipment! You can choose a suitable melee weapon, shield, armor, or ring!

    Enhanced equipment will empower you through newly unlocked perks.

Runes also drop from Fell Footsoldiers, Fell Rangers, Fell Berserkers and Fell Sporeheads.

The Blacksmith makes Legendary Runes from 25 Runes apiece, and rare and legendary weapons need them for upgrades.
