Gem Forge

A Gem Forge inserts a gem into a weapon, takes it out, upgrades it or recycles it, and it burns Archaic Essence to do so. There are 18 in the world, two ordinary forges and one Night Sanctum Gem Forge in each of the six regions, and between them they raise the 24 gems as high as level 50. The forges come up in the quests Finding And Using A Gem Forge and The Spiral.

Gem Forges

Each region's forges burn its own grade of Archaic Essence, from Archaic Essence I in Springlands up to Archaic Essence VI in Veilwater Basin, and the level cap rises region by region. The Night Sanctum Gem Forge charges less per level than the region's two ordinary forges and always goes further, reaching 12 in Springlands where they stop at 10, and 50 in Veilwater Basin where they stop at 45.

Upgrade cost from level 1

Every forge charges a fixed amount of its essence per gem level, and the table adds that rate up from level 1. Taking a gem to 10 at a Springlands Gem Forge costs 117. The Veilwater Basin Night Sanctum Gem Forge takes one all the way to 50 for 196, at 4 per level.

Gem slot chance by weapon rarity

A Common weapon never has a gem slot, Uncommon ones get one 5% of the time, Rare 25% and Epic 50%, and every Legendary weapon has one.
